Blyth Estuary Group images of recent river activity and attempts to curtail the resultant defence breaches. This picture was added on the 25th July 2008.

Picture by Michael Page taken 11th May, it shows Oyster Point; this is about 2 miles up river from the sea. It also shows breaches 4,5,6,7 and 8 in the river bank of which there are 10. These breaches were caused by the November 2007 storm surge. Breach no.5 was the main breach allowing the tide to flow in and out twice each day. The dam of 2000 sandbags is showing as a white area along the river wall. Note that the marshes have almost drained of water.
